I've got a 6800gt (sli soon). You dont really need past 256 right now....maybe in a year or 2 then maybe need the ful256 and 512. But for now 256 is more than enough

My first computer that I bought in 99 had an integrated intel video chip in it with 8MB of RAM. A year ago I upgraded that to a Radeon 9200SE with 128 MB of RAM. Now I just recently bought a new computer that came with an integrated Sis 760 Video card in it, which also has 128 MB of RAM.

I have 512, it's great. Best-video-ram-ever.
i do remember one thing.
it took hours and hours but.
by the time i was done with it.
i was so involved. i didn't even know what to think.
i carried it around with me for days. and days.
playing little games.
like. not looking at it for a whole day.
and then. looking at it.
to see if I still liked it.

i have 2 sticks of 512mb of ram corsair xms pro ram with led lights = 1gig of ram , and my video card is ati 256mb pro series card.

I have a power horse with some built in crap with 8mb. Needless to say I don't play a lot of games on this laptop. Thats what desktops are for.
