Ive always felt that a second psp with improvements over the previous one would be nice. I wanted to get the psp ever since it came out though. Curse my small allowasances haha

The PSP hasn't even seen a real price drop yet. I think Sony will focus driving down the cost of the PSP before they try selling a PSP 2.

I hear that Sony was designing "PSP" again according to information acquired from the authentic source. The rumor of 'PSP 2' is roughly as follows. ･"Hard disk" is supported from the start.･Playing a game and additionally, "UMD" is not used. (So that sales of the UMD movie may have fallen. )･Are there in a word present neither "PSP" nor interchangeability (upper compatibility)?･Is 'PSP 2' developing now, and announced within three years?It is said this the new engineering contract that Sony made nVIDIA. The following comments seemed to have come back when this matter was heard from SCEA (Sony computer entertainment the United States). "SCEA doesn't comment about this rumor or the guess as shown in the agreement. "

well it's not like nintendo doesn't remodel every hand held they've put out. Hell GBA was remodeled three times, four if you count GBA SP 2.0 with the brighter screen. And to the above post, you're right sony should change their entire business model based on the fact that YOU don't like psp. I for one love my psp and I say DS has next nothing I'm interested in. I however blame the software developers for that, and not Nintendo. I recognize the possibilites of the DS which are undercut by too many childish pokemon games.

That would be so stupid since they kind of came out with the all white psp that everyone wants there hands on.Also, that would just reduce the price of the PSP itself, and the company wouldn't make alot of money since the materialsin the PSP would cost more than the acual system altogether.Ebay is packed with people who are still willing to buy PSP's.But if they acually do, they must have a plan and I wish them good luck

my opinion is that sony in itself is losing money both in the PS3 and PSP. For Sony to bring out a new PSP or new design they need to take a page out of Nintendo and lower the price of the current PSP and add in extra features. I don't mind seeing a slimmer PSP with a little more interface with other PSP's or music and movie applications. But it won't probably happen until 1st quarter of next year. Especially with the PS3 out and the interfacing with the two systems(PS3<-->PSP).

Sony has a chance to do something really cool with the PS3 and PSP2. They could set it up like the Ipod with Itunes. Download PSP2 games onto the PS3 harddrive, then you can upload them onto a certain number of PSP2's. No more UMD, no more production costs for software, and Sony would be able to keep all the profits instead of giving retailers a cut. Only problem with that plan is that it's dependent upon the success of the PS3.

It's still too early to even release the PSP2, but they have planned something like that for the PS3 and a few games

I highly doubt that sony will release PSP2 anytime soon. First psp just came out and the normal life time for a handheld console is about 2-3 years. And second you can ussually judge when another system is going to be released by the price of the current system. If its dropping then most likely another system is on its way, psp retail price is still pretty high which leads me to believe that sony is comfortable with what they have out right now.

F-A-K-E. You have to be kidding, imagine bigger screen that the one it has now? The PSP weights a lot now, imagine "the other version" and it is a fake because Nintendo would never aloud putting GBA games in a Sony handheld. Thats jus insane, pal let me say you that your friend has trick you very badly! I dont think there will be such a thing, the price will be insane, think of $500 for a handheld? No way, and besides it havent passed either three years to them to reveal something, SONY you just suck.My friend said that when he registered for the ps3 he got a magazine that talked about the the next gen gaming consoles. Also mp3 and mp4 (mp4 is kind of like the mp3 but has more memory and can have either a radio or a video card inside its just like the ipod video witch is an mp4). In that magazine he said it talked about the psp2 and that it had somewhat of better graphics also bigger screen so when you put a ps1 or GBA on it you can see as much wide open space as you wont. Now of course I don’t wont it because I am with the Japanese on this one, why? Well because when sony came out with this they didn’t think about the graphics and the games they only thought about the god damn money. So the only thing that its good for is music and door stops, its as simple as that.

i don't get the point of announcing the next PSP when the first one isn't even around that long, it's not like the PSP is piece of low tech junk beside, the cost commercial loss on the PSP would be kinda catasrophic

Hmm around 2002 the ps3 was being talked about in magazines, so I see this as a possibility, though I don't think we'll hear any solid news or see any pictures until a 2009.

You know this is interesting I heard Sony wanted to make a lot of new improvements to the PSP but when the got the new ideas it was too late to start over so I'm not surprised that another 1 would come out. Although it would really tick me off because I just practically got mine so it would kind of make it a waste of money. Sorry but I hope another 1 isn't coming out for a while.
