I guess there are few reasons why anime is better.First, their cheaper to make. They use less frames per second and rely on techniques that simulate movement without using a lot of drawings. e.g. speedlinesThen there's the eye candy. Cute girls and cool heroes, who wouldn't want to watch that?Lastly, they are character-driven. Unlike most American toons, they rely on the characters to help the story progress. The story revolves around the character.A great example of a character-driven story (not anime though) is The Lakehouse (Reeves and Bullock). The film is a Hollywood adaptation of a Korean film entitled Il Mare (the sea). My Sassy Girl's Jeon Ji Hyun starred in the original. Here are some old cartoons that are really anime in nature:TransformersThundercatsSilverhawksGalaxy RangersBionic 6The great thing about anime and cartoons is they're using each other's strong points to improve their style. Cartoons are using speedlines and some anime use more frames. Maybe there'll be a time when the two will have no difference at all.

anime is so much better because it actually has a decent plot to it that is continous, not something that goes on for 3 episodes and they do a 180

Japanese anime has a decent storyline and the episodes continue where the other one has left. Also the drawings are way more realistic.American cartoons are all humor based. And the drawing are totally unrealistic.

I think it's because anime tries to apply more of a real-life sort of appeal, while at the same time appealing to our greatest fantasies. If you think about it, many of our action movies today have been defined by the styles of anime for instance(the matrix trilogy, ultraviolet, even elements of marvel made movies, such as spiderman, the hulk, and fantastic four)

Sometimes the cartoons scenes are yucky...like ed and eddy. They eat the poo from the nose... >=( Furthermore, anime has better graphic and sound..

Well I think that is because anime can be aimed at any at anyone. But with american cartoons you have stupid shows that contain crude humor and to many sex refernces. But what I dont get is when ever they bring anime over to america they always edit it, but turly the stuff they have is crap. Im not saying all of it is crap but just the crappy stuff (if that makes any sense)PS. Im sry if this has been done but I couldnt find it.

wow it has been a half a year since I have started this topic ^_^ And looking back I have to add somthing to the things I said. I will have to say that not all cartoons are bad. There are quite a few little kid cartoons that I like to watch whenever I can see them. But then there are those ones that are just horrible. I dont even know why kids watch them. Maybe its because they see pretty colors they want to watch. I have a younger cousine that will watch anything animated. It dosent matter. I think this is the problem. The people who do cartoons and the people who bring over the animes are cutting the children short. They see them as stupid. And set the bar very, very low. I think that they should make the programs enjoyable for people of all ages. Then they wouldnt have cartoons just for kids. But for every one. They would have interesting plot, characters, designs and a huge fanbase. This however isnt likly going to happen. :'( And yea there probably is bad anime out there, but lets count okay? Good American cartoons- Simpson, Family guy, Southpark. These are the super big hitters of americaGood Animes- One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchamist, Inyuyasha, Trigun, Yuu Yuu Hakushio... (dont feel like going on :D )There is a reason that more anime has reached the shores of north america and beond. And there is a reason why some american cartoons have gone to other countrys. But it seems that there are more better animes to cartoons.

well basically anime is much more appealing than american cartoons because ameritoons wer drawn according to the true image of a man (example: cinderella, snow white, ariel etc.. ) all of them share the same facial characteristics while japan animation altered the image of man into much mor adorable drawings.umm.. this is for public knowledge only:anime is really an inverted character of the japanese, as you can see, they cannot make the eyes of animes to be like theirs because their eyes are stif that might scare the viewers so they made it cute and big. hope this adds up to your knowledge guys!P.S. dont mean to offend our japs buddies! you guys are the best in the cartoon industry!

America considers cartoons only to be for children. So they make shows with everything child-safe and unoffensive as possible, and throw in as many mindless puns as they can in one episode.Japanese reach out to a wider range of auddience, not considering the anime just for children.

because Asians are better than americans in every way but thats not why. anime is sooo much better because american cartoons are usailly ment for children ages 7 and under so the jokes and humer is just dry and stupid. Anime is uasilly ment for teens and older kids so thats why most people like it. and pervs like it because...well you know. and more action for those people who like action and explosions. dont froget the plot most american cartoons are just soooo random that there is no point in watching it. its just better in every way.

They're not. I'm sure most, if not everyone here remembers at least one of the following American cartoons that do kick donkey.- The old spiderman cartoons. I use to remember watching this series every morning.- Captain Planet and the Planeteers. This show taught us all that everyone who rides a fast car and wears a suit must be harming the planet!- X-Men the Animated series, this just plain rocked. I'd laugh in whoevers face thinks americans cartoons have no plot, storyline or character development after watching these...- Family Guy. I doubt anyone here has not enjoyed watching this show- American Dad, same deal as above.- Looney tunes, hamtaro's got nothing on them ^_^- Striperella. Someone tell me American cartoons are aimed at kids now >.>I'd say there are alot more anime cartoons out there aimed at younger children than teenagers while this is almost the same for American cartoons, i dont see some japanese character busting out the lines of Peter Griffin.

I love anime, but its a fad. For the most part, the areas we live in have a low anime loving population. This makes us different. And I can safely say I love to feel a little more different than most folks.

Are you kidding. Anime isnt a fad. Its been around longer than you have and most likely most of the people on this site. Its been around for over 40 years. Anime is only going to get more popular and become more frequent in culture. MchHoodlum only three of those cartoons arnt animed at kids. Those were all fine shows but what about all the thousands of cartoons that only last one season and gets replaced next season.

I guess Anime is better than American Cartoons, because the last one, at about 5 to 8 years ago, is often focused in small children. The American Cartoons are commonly used to teach manners or to amuse children with silly situations. Of course, there are some cartoons which are excluded.Anime Cartoons, on the other hand, have different contents, so these can be focused in diverse audiences, acording to their likenesses. Obviously, there are Anime Cartoons as boring as an average American one, but there aren't many out there, at least here in North America or South America

Ok, im assuming your talking about the last american cartoons made. *points to American Dad, Striperella, Family Guy & South Park* The first three are still fairly new...Ok, ok this time i really am leaving XD(edit = added another title)

I don't know exactly why. Anime has a different drawing style than American cartoons. Animes just seem a lot more mature in terms of content. I'd rather watch an anime with tits and swearing than watch an American Cartoon which is just stupid humour. Anime too is more about story generally and not about creating a laugh riot. By the way... we all like anime so calm down and just "praise anime."
