They're in no way "better" really. It's all a matter of taste.The Japanese just have a more diverse and heavily fanbased anime community. I can't find certain genres in American cartoons that I enjoy with anime, which pretty much defines my answer here.

I like both, there are some American cartoons that are good to watch like transformers, and Cartoons made by Marvel are also great. But I watch anime more and the other lesser.

i think anime is much better because it is much more violent and have better story lines. American cartoon are sometimes just too soft and they jut dont have the same ideas for cartoons

American cartoons are either comedies or geared towards little kids. that's why they arent really as appealing as anime. anime is marketed to a much wider audience. also, there used to be good american cartoons, but they were only geared toward one audience. i'm talking about super hero cartoons. those always had really well developed stories and characters, which is what makes anime good. today super heros are things of the past. spiderman and superman and batman. those don't exist anymore. which sucks. but either way, anime has a wider target audience which makes it better.

I think its because we see american cartoons all the time and anime is something diffrent its not the same as everything else and its not perdictable

I agree with hnwpb80the violence is an attractive for the publicyou would consider watching some cartoons where there isn't any blood or somehitng more realistic?

Japan doesn't have much restrictions when they create anime or manga, therefore there is broad ranges while america have many restriction on what can be shown. (No sexual scenes, No violence, etc.)

both anime and cartoons are sexualbut to me anime is way much better. u see those cratoons? they ar akways childish and alwayspotray super things like uknow superman? compare to anime thers realism and artand makes everyone go awestruck even adults

why anime is a lot lot better?. well ofcoures, the artwork is so great from top to bottom. and the plots of animes i've seen is a lot better than does lame cartoons, seriously, i think 90% of those cartoons i've seen are pretty crapy..

I thhink American cartoons are boring without a lot of fighting and too much romance in it. They get rid of all the good parts in Japanese anime that makes the show more interesting

Alot of the storyline is much better. The cartoons are kind of cheesy, but the anime is a different story.

Anime in Japan are like the Soup Operas of this side of the world. I once saw a documental in the Travel Channel that said that for the Japanese the anime is like Bald Eagle to the United States. It is something very important and significant to them. It is something that represent their culture, points of view, music and art through the world. I would agree with such. Anime series have continuity, most american series just make up chapters without no order at all. There's anime for every kind of audience too.
