DS all the way. the drifting is better, they actualy allow you to see charachter's stats, the new and less cheap items (ok, the bullet bill is even cheaper than the old blue shell but other than that...), the online play, the lower screen mini map, the improved battle modes, the eight player compadablilty, the ranking system... I could go on and on. so, to repeat, DS all the way

I have to say the DS version is quickly winning my heart. But the N64 version will always have a place in my heart.

Mario Kart 64 is the reason i keep my N64 attached to my TV. In other words, it owns.

I like more the N64 version why the graphics are more funny and has a circuit that is in a desert with the danger of the train I think that is funny.

Mario Kart 64 was an awesome game. Very fun to play, easy to control/just pick up and play. DS was more in-depth and had better graphics. I would have to say DS because it didnt get old fast.

It's like this. Mario kart 64 has instant multiplayer with four players if you have the controllers and most important of all, players. But mario DS only needs you to connect to the net without any additional controllers needed, though you still need friend codes to compete with someone.Plus being able to play mario kart anywhere (including those long monday morning hours in a classroom and no teacher in site... you didn't here this from me) is a major plus against mario kart 64 and posting your best time to compare yourself against the best in the world too.

I have to go with DS also, maybe just because I haven't played the N64 version for so long or maybe because of wi-fi but no matter DS wins for me

i'd have to go with the ds on this one since it built off of what already made mario kart 64 so good.

I agree with that. The idea for the retro tracks was cool if the selection was a little better. I do like all the of the missions, and unlocks on the DS version too.
