Alright, let's compare them...If talking about Sacred Stones, I say swordmasters. They are stronger than the assassin, simple logic. The formulae for silencer to active is half your crit%. A swordmaster with a silver sword or killing edge will kill anything with a crit, but has a +15% chance to crit. So, say they both have 40% base crit (weapon + skill stat) the swordmaster has 55% crit while the assassin still stay at 40%. (Only 20% chance to activate silencer)And lol at the argument "assassins gain more speed" and whatnot. In Sacred Stones, and in most of the other fire emblem games as well, stats growth aren't influenced by the class. Take Joshua for example. He will have the same speed in both assassin and swordmaster, same goes for his other stats. The only thing that changes this is if he's been screwed by the RNG. But anyway, on averages he'll be about the same on any of these 2 classes, with a 15% crit bonus as swordmaster. For FE7, I'd have to still say swordmaster. I don't like Guy, but Karel is oh so fine by me. Yes, he's about as strong as Jaffar, but with 15% more crit, and I like the character better too.
