For most popular, I would have to say it'd be Mario...after all, he's the company mascot! You could probably hold a picture of the guy in front of most random people on the streets and they'd be able to identify him.But for personal favorite...well, that's a tough call. It'd come down to Metroid and Zelda at the top of my list, with the only distinction between them being what my gaming mood would call for at the time. But in the end, my vote would have to go to Zelda, which has a far more involved storyline with plenty of beautiful locales and fun, well-developed characters to meet, and of course the complex, puzzle-ridden dungeons and wide variety of monsters to overcome. :D
