It's the cards that make the game and a game that includes all the new types of cards and decks would be pretty good. Yeah, I know about the 2nd TCG but couldn't play it as I can't speak Japanese. I think that I may have had a copy that had been translated but it was also unplayable. There's enough fresh content and ideas for this franchise to be worth something. I'd say that a Wi-Fi enabled DS version with a larger world map and options would be good fun, especially if you could play online with your friend and use the microphone to talk to each other - it would be the DS equivalent of a game of poker with the guys/girls.I've no idea why Nintendo have chosen to abandon the Pokemon TCG video games though. With all the Yu-Gi-Oh! games that came out for the GBA you would have thought that Nintendo would have realised that they had their own card game that they could be pedalling.Do you know that have a second version of this game only in japanese? This time you chalange the rocket team! But with all these real expansions, this game was old!

I first played this game on ROM, loved it then bought it for £10. I was playing it still late last year before I got my DS.It's a simpler game to play than Yu-Gi-Oh! because it has fewer card types, but because it doesn't have trap or magic cards it lacks the deep strategy element of Yu-Gi-Oh! and can often be a case of luck as to whether you win or lose. Saying that though it's a great game to play, with a simple play system and a lot of options as to how you want to create your deck/s. Some battles can be really hectic; one I played lasted through until we were both out of cards. I ran out first and I was one hit away from winning! Talk about heated! The best thing about the Pokemon TCG for GBC though is that you have just a small map to navigate around and only a few places to keep an eye on - unlike the recent Pokemon games where you need to be awake at 4.00am on a Sunday in order to have a 1 in 300 chance of catching Pokemon number 300-and-whatever, or something. Annoys the hell out of me!It really does need an update with the inclusion of all the current cards and all the limited edition cards. I was sure that a few years ago I heard about an update for the GBA, but that could have just been my imagination (or Pokemon for the GBA). Shame :(If anyone here's seen or played (or tried to play at least) the Digimon TCG for the Wonderswan Color then you'd know how good games like these can look. If they made an update for the DS then they could have the same formula as the Digimon TCG with the console being held vertically and the card being shown in the full panel of the display screen - it would look beautiful! Then (if Nintendo weren't such money grabbers }_{!) they could allow card downloads at shops, events and such.
