In Topic: Memory Deletion!

20 January 2009 - 06:24 AM

Playstation 1. XD A friend of mine was really getting into the Final Fantasy series so I loaned him my PSX and copies of FF7-9. He played them all summer, but when he returned my PSX, he lost my memory card!! The memory card had ALL my game saves, which comprised almost exclusively RPGs (FF7-9, Vagrant Story, Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Chrono Cross, Legend of Mana... yeah I'm a S-E fanboy, so sue me :P ) So I lost literally HUNDREDS of hours of gameplay!!!A couple years later I got an itch to replay the classics and replayed through EVERY SINGLE ONE of the above listed games!! I played them all to 100% completion, too, and used FAQs on my second time around to get rare weapons/summons/secrets I missed. As it turns out, I REALLY enjoyed replaying them! XD

In Topic: Favorite Part of a Zelda Game

20 January 2009 - 06:14 AM

My favorite Zelda moment has almost always been acquiring your sword or the Master Sword. Like on the beach in Link's Awakening, when the famous Hyrule theme chimes in and Link spin-slashes his sword into a victory pose after first finding it washed on the shore, or pulling the Master Sword from the Lost Woods in Link to the Past. I also get a little choked up the first time young Link pulls the Master Sword from the Temple of Time and is transported 7 years into the future and sees himself all grown up :)

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. It was the first "Metroidvania" (or Castletroid if you prefer) to really capture a lot of the wonderful detail and tight gameplay of Symphony of the Night (one of my all time faves.) The future setting and "Dracula is dead" aspect also made the story a little fresher than the same "Drac is revived, you must stop him" stories of the past CVs. It's also the last Castlevania to feature the amazing artwork of the amazing miss Ayami Kojima. XD

In Topic: [GAMES] Zelda Twilight Princess: Wii or GCN

I preferred the GCN version; it was so easy to just "jump right in" since the controls were identical to Windwaker and the Ocarina ports. I also prefer my Link left-handed ;) However, it's worth owning Twilight Princess Wii for it's *ahem* other useful purposes. (I have TPWii to thank for being able to play Tasunoko vs. Capcom!) ;)

In Topic: Still Use PS2?

19 January 2009 - 06:21 PM

My PS2 still gets more playtime than my Wii, 360, and DS combined (and I love my other systems!) There's just SO MANY good games that I missed out on before! I recently finished God Hand, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within & Two Thrones, and I've still got Kingdom Hearts Re:Chains of Memories to play, Persona 4, etc.To me, the PS2 is the "SNES" of the last generation. Lots of AAA titles, but also lots of hidden gems too (like ICO, God Hand, Okami, etc.)
