Yu-Gi-Oh! Reshef of Destruction: Reviews

Game Score: 3/10

The fact that Konami can make such great legacies a Metal Gear and Suikoden and then make this type of game is kind of maddening to me. I have never seen such a horrible game in my life. Little to no redeeming qualities. Maybe if I had played games ala Big Rigs I wouldn't be so shocked to see such terrible play in a game, but this is made by a major player in the market, and I am just in awe of how bad this game truly is.

Graphics - 3/10

Average graphics and that is being nice. The cards lack a lot of detail that other Yu-Gi-Oh games provide. While the graphics are not very bad they are just not up to par with other Yu-Gi-Oh games. I cannot honestly understand why older games in the gba series have better graphics than this newer game. It is as if they didn't want to have good graphics. Honestly that makes no sense to be whatsoever.

Sound - 5/10

it repeats a lot. It is very annoying. I would rather listen to pop culture music than listen to this music. I know the game isn't about a grand musical output, but give me a break. They could've had ONE tune better than the cliched 'twist' sound effect when a plot point was revealed.

Plot - 3/10

The plot was jarred, obviously rushed, and was nothing more than characters speaking in order for it to make sense. Literally, you just talked to someone and they rambled on for about a minute about some key and very "not obvious" plot point before you went on your way to continue your grand quest in saving the world.

Gameplay - 1/10

Let it be known, that I have never given a game a 0/10 in gameplay before this. I developed a twitch because of this game play. I like challenging games. Challenging can add to a game. But this is simply overkill to the max. You have to deal with using 500-700 attack monster cards while bosses at the start all have 1000+ at least. You gain about 100 in money per a win, which is good. Bad news is to buy any sort of decent card it costs around 2000. But, have no fear... If you are willing to part with 1000 out of your pocket you may enter a code to purchase one card! Yes, that is right, the only hope you have of winning in this game is to cheat. I am not joking, if you do not have a code it is impossible to win fairly. But you know what is even worse than impossible to defeat bosses? The fact that the game doesn't even follow the rules of the card game. Flip effects work when they want to, which is never if you control the card. Randomly it would seem, lower powered monsters can kill your stronger monsters, although they have no effect to do so, they do so because this game doesn't like you. And in the later stages, the opponent gains much more lifepoints than you do to start off the duel, as if they needed another advantage. Way to go Konami, way to go.

Overall - 3/10

To me, game play in this type of game is almost everything. However since this game kept Kaiba cool and collected I will not give it a 0, although I don't think its possible to do so in this system. I would never suggest that you waste your money on this horrible game, to be quite honest. It is saddening to think such a great game company could produce such an unrefined, unfulfilled game.
