The starcontrol series is mind blowing awsome even though i started it backwordsd from starcon 3 to starcon 2 now this, now from judgeing head on i was thinking this was going to be like the others since it is the first game however i though completly wrong totally new gameplay that i didnt expected! anyways pretty much in summry this game takes place within the first war between the peaceful alliance of free stars (humans, arilou, yehat, ect) and the evil urqan hirachary (kzar-za urqan, spathi, mycon, ect) which are trying to keep there freedom from the evil urqan. the greatest feature i see of this game is that you can either play as the hiarchy or the alliance, HECK! have a friend come play with you! this game is 2 player for everything from the strat mode to melee battle mode!

the neat thing about this game is that you can get addicted to it so fast its such a mind blowing fast paceing game, another great thing about this game is that its very balanced there is no ultimate ship thats incredibley powerful (well that would be hard to tell that to the urqan dreadnought =)* but there is weaknesses and strengiths of each ship but even though its weak in many areas it can still beat any ship out there such as the pitful shofixi scout can bring down a dreadnought after pumbling it with a few shots then useing the "Glory Device" on it.

however i did find a few lame things about it which of course were fixed in the later versions such as when you do free melee combat you cant select what and how many ships you wish to have its always preset but in practice mode you can select but only one ship which you would have to leave and come back often, but of course the most imporant part of the game is battle which is beatufly made espically for the sega . although it shouldnt say "Fuel" when its really Power but hey it was the first game what do you expect to call it? anyways the neat thing about battle is that each ship has its own set of powers that make each ship uniqe like the illwraith has a flamethrower cannon thats short range so they are pretty much screwed by most enemies! however they do have a neat little cloking device to counter that which makes long range ships extreamly difficult too hit the illwraith avenger! ^^ another neat thing about battle is that as you close in on your enemy the battle screen zooms up to both ships which is pretty dam neat as you zoom in on your foe! looks very relistic and all the graphics of each ship comes up perfectly!

even though a few things make this game let down the full part of the game the strat part very nicely put together and easy to learn, as you defeat your oppents starbase and ships also comes with a simple prolouge to get you into the battle more such as you play the cowarding spaithi who is getting forced to fight the mrrhmrrhm *could never spell their name* to get the planets in that system

overall this is a very good additcting game that you will want to get your friends to play with so you can kick there hirachary butt all over the galaxy ^^
