Mario and Luigi - Partners in Time: Reviews

Game Score: 9/10

The Story: In this sequel to Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, the brothers travel back in time to retrieve Princess Peach, only to come face to face with baby versions of themselves, the princess and Bowser. Teaming up with their young selves will soon send Mario and Luigi on a quest of lunatic proportions as players must control both the adult AND baby versions of the Mushroom Kingdom heroes. Players use the top screen to study the land, keep track of the pair of brothers not under their control or maximize combo moves in battle. With twice the Mario brothers and twice the laughs, this massive side-splitting adventure could only find a home on the dual screens of the Nintendo DS.

Gameplay = 9
While this game might not be for everyone, this game is an exceptional game in it's own merit. There are many things to do within the game itself, so you will have a lot of fun with this one.

Graphics = 10
One of the games best aspects is in the graphics department. All the characters are rich and full, and truly represent what they should look like. Nintendo really came through here.

Sound = 8.0
The only reason this didn't get a better score is because of the voice acting in it. I have always hated "The Sims" and "The Urbz" for the whomp whomp whomp type speaking (It sounds like bad reception, lol). I will say that Mario and the rest of the gang sound how they should, but you cannot understand them. Nintendo really should have put more work in this department. The music however, is more of a routine Mario game nature. It suits this game nicely, and shouldn't get tiresone too quick.

Controls = 10
The controls of this game is spot on accurate, and I couldn't find a flaw in it myself. I found myself easily introduced to them, and to the point where it needed to be that way. The camera angles work perfectly in conjunction with the controls, so you should adjust with minimal effort getting used to this game.

Replay Value = 9.0
This is the kind of game you could easily spend hours on, and even forget about the few flaws it has due to the fact it is just a fun game. The only real major problem I see is that the old tried and true "Save the princess" routine gets tiresome after a while. God knows she needs to do herself a favor and go take up karate :)

Overall = 9
Basically as long as you are a fan of this games genre, you can buy it without worry, and you will at least respect it in it's own right. I can imagine there are some people that wouldn't like this game, but it is far and few, so if you got the money go pick yourself up a copy, you won't be disappointed. There are few games that speak this well of the NDS, so this is a must buy for any fan.
