Tao's Adventure - Curse of the Demon Seal... Well, I can't say I hate it, but I can't say I love it either. It fills a basic need, as it is one of the few RPGs available for the DS, but the way it fills the need leaves much to be desired.

The story - There is a tower full of monsters in a quiet little village (whose bright idea was it to build a village around a tower full of monsters?). One day lightning hits the tower and the demon seal breaks and powerful monsters get released into the world. Some very powerful monsters fly to Bente village and turn everyone to stone except for a bunch of old guys and Tao, our hero. Tao sets off to the monster tower to find the egg of the powerful monster, so they can make some medicine that will somehow turn the people back. Yep, feeding medicine to statues, that'll work. So, you get to the village and everyone hates you. Apparently some of your ancestors created the demon seal by sacrificing half of the people of the monster tower village.

The gameplay - Luckily, you're not alone, you can hatch monsters from eggs you find, and they will travel with you. While wandering through the tower, each step you take makes the monsters move as well. Get too close and you can attack and be attacked. You can attack with your weapon, use an item, or use magic. Magic is one of the things I really like about this game. The spellcasting system requires you to draw a magic symbol with the stylus. The symbols are fairly easy to remember, and can be looked up at any time from the spellbook in your inventory.

Pros - Great magic system that uses the touchscreen.
Very good graphics

Cons - Equipment doesn't tell you how it affects your stats (you can't tell how much better one weapon is over another)
Required use of the stylus for almost everything.

Overall, not a bad game, but not a great game. Until there are more RPGs for the DS, this will have to do.
