Game Score: 9/10
Lost Magic is a very unique game by Ubisoft and Taito. The game starts off with our main character's father, Bishop of the White Light confronting the Diva of the Twilight. After the battle, you will then be introduced to the game's main character, Isaac. Isaac's story is a simple one, his whole entire village got attacked and he escaped. In doing so, he lost sight of his parents. They could be alive or dead, we wouldn't know. An old witch found him, and taught him magic.
What makes this game unique is the ability to draw the spells that you want to cast. They are called Runes in this game. Holding the L button will allow you to bring out a Magic Circle on your lower screen. This is when you get to draw out the spell you want to cast.
Casting spells are not the only thing that makes this game awesome. Being able to capture monsters and use them. Besides all these, yet another feature that is added in to make you drool. This game is a combination of RTS and RPG. Since everything is in real-time, draw spells quickly and accurately is essential. The neater your runes are drawn, the more powerful your spells. So if your hands are shaky, just quickly draw something and hope to hit something.
This game is Wi-Fi enabled, so you can play online and wirelessly. Awesome, ain't it? But I haven't had a chance to try out Wi-Fi on any games so I cannot comment on it.
Battle System - 10 out of 10:
I really like the battle system, very unique, infused with both RTS (Real Time Strategy) and RPG (Role Playing Game). There is a time system whereby you would need complete a battle under the given time. This is a hassle when you first start the game because you have no idea as to how the whole system works, but after your second battle, you should have already gotten the hang of it.
You can capture monsters, command them and equip them with items that you find later in the game. The items will make them stronger.
Controls - 10 out of 10:
Very friendly to Left Handed people, because there's an option that will allow you to switch to either Left or Right stylus. Holding the L (or R, depending on which controls you set) to bring out the magic circle and then drawing it. Most of the time, you would be clicking on the screen rather than using any buttons or keys.
Graphics - 9 out of 10:
I like the cartoon look, most games spend too much time trying to perfect their graphics they missed out on the elements of Game-play. This game doesn't really have killer graphics but it is the Game-play that makes it a winner.
Game-play - 10 out of 10:
Amazing, absolutely interesting and fun. I personally like the idea of being able to capture your own monsters and being able to draw your spells as if you are really casting them (technically, you are, but reality-wise, you aren't). One of the thing that keeps you excited is probably the Time you need to complete a battle. Being very quick to command Isaac and his minions, spotting enemies, knowing who should go after who and where to place them.
Overall - 9 out of 10:
No complains about anything. If you are unsure if this game is to your likings, you could probably try it or rent it first, if you really like it, then buy it. Games do not appeal to everyone, but there is a unique crowd out there. I did not regret buying this game. Give it a try!
