Trauma Centre: Under the Knife is a unique game only the DS could possibly serve a game player. It shows exactly what Nintendo's innovative console can do.
The idea of the game is to treat various patients using a variety of operation tools. Since the game is set in the near fututre, there are some tools you may not recognise like Anti-biotic gel that cures small wounds instantly. There are also the classic uses such as the scalpel and the forceps. Each tool requires precision and skill. It will take some practice to master each one. They will need to be learnt though as you are always in a race against time. You have to complete each operation before the worst happens and your patient's Vitals drop to 0, your timer runs down or you make too many mistakes. This isn't as easy as you think. One scene involves you keeping track of these stats against 5 patients in a row!
As part of the story, you play Doctor Derek Stiles. You are assisted by various cartoon characters on the top screen and perform operations on the bottom screen. They're there to help. You need them to defeat a killer virus used by terroists called GUILT.
This game is innovative and fun to play. If you are looking for a challenge, look no further. Keep in mind though that it's better to get the real version (like me) for the fiddly tasks and that the text may bore you. (To skip it press your select key!) Otherwise, this is an essential title for anyone to own.
