Attractive for One hour...
Story
Mister Driller's father is a bit jealous of his son's recent fame... He catch an emergency call and go to help the people of a small archipelago, somewhere. They dig too deep and awake big monsters.
Graphics
Low poly 3d graphics, quite ugly, in the top screen : an island, some monsters, some pilar, you... I think even the GBA could do better, pre-rendered...
2D Regular "Dig dug" graphics on the touch screen : you could be playing on GBC, it would be the good old same Dig Dug...
Beside, Like Mr Driller, since it's a sequel, we don't look for something particulary new, no ??
Gameplay
Attractive for 1 hour, but repetitive... Each level is an island. You must drown every monsters in it to win... Not the little 2d monsters (they can be killed by rocks or be inflated to death (oh yeah they can !!), but the big 3d ones, on the top screen...
Every level has is own design, but the mechanic is always the same : To drown them, you must dig bellow some pilar , to "crack" the island : when the pilars are deep enough, the land cracks and when cracks are continues, this portion of island sink into the sea... You just have to wait for the monster to walk into this zone and dig the last pilar...
Every level...
Of course, the big monsters are differents, smarters, quickers, and the littles one are more aggressives, but the main goal is to crack the country more and more...
Overall
The Dig dug licence is not betrayed by this sequel, but it may attract only few new fans... A good DS-revamped remake, anyway... for one hour...
