Yu-Gi-Oh GX - Spirit Caller: Reviews

Game Score: 9/10

Overview: Ok I’ll start by sharing the reason why I quit playing the Yugioh TCG. I quit because I wasted all my money buying booster packs and I never got anything good. Then this game came along that had wifi. It would let me play Yugioh and with other people all over the world and without having to buy like a billion packs. So I bought this game and I doubt I will ever regret it. The game has a nonexistent story and that leads to it’s one major flaw which is that you never feel like you are progressing. That’s the only major flaw as most of the game is excellent. You use a cursor to look for people and when it turns yellow and red you are getting closer and closer to someone who wants to duel. Except sometimes they don’t want to duel. The game has a lot of tutorials for people unfamiliar with the Yugioh TCG, but you can just skip it all like I did. The game includes over 1,400 cards which leads to an immense amount of deck construction possibilities.

Story: Nonexistent

Graphics: The game’s graphics aren’t flawed like most reviewers say. Reviewers are just spoiled and want breathtaking graphics in every game. There are lots of little things like posters of TCG structure decks in your dorm that make this game great looking. When you summon a monster, they come out of the card in 3-d and while not breathtaking, they are distinguishable and pretty good looking. Rating: 8.5 out of 10

Sound: This isn’t the game’s strongest point but it isn’t the weakest point either. Sometimes it gets annoying(which I found a solution for, turn the volume down) but sometimes the victory music makes you feel cool. There are no voiceovers but there aren’t many conversations either so. Rating: 8 out of 10

Gameplay: An exact replica of the Yugioh TCG. Beside the walking around(which I really wouldn’t consider gameplay) you duel, duel, and duel some more. Another great part of this is in the TCG some people interpret card effects differently so people cheat sometimes and in the game, that can’t happen since the game knows all(well mostly). Rating: 9.5 out of 10

Replay Value: Wow does this game have replay value. With over 1,400 cards the deck possibilities are endless. Plus you can save your deck recipes so that you can build another deck without having to remember all the cards. Rating: 9 out of 10

Wi-fi: This is the best part. You can play with people all over the world. As you beat people, you get experience and once you get enough, you level up. This was great for me cause when I played the TCG, I had to get myself to a store where people played and I don’t have to anymore. Anyway this is a great way to test your skills and I would go as far as to say it’s flawless(except for dcs but Konami can’t be blamed for that and besides that’s what clans are for). Rating: 10 out of 10

Overall: This is a great game for Yugioh TCG fans and people who have never played the TCG. If you don’t like the TCG though, I would stay away from this. Anyway there are tons of cards, good graphics, great wi-fi, endless replay value(maybe less if you use the glitch), and an awesome replica of the TCG. Rating: 8.75 out of 10.
