Planet Puzzle League

In my opinion the best puzzle game on the DS at this point. Better than Tetris DS, and Meteos? Yes, it is, and I'll tell you why.

HOW ITS PLAYED
Dual screen, Touch screen/stylus, and its played like a book (the DS on its side) but you can change it to the conventional way and play with the controls. But playing with the stylus is more precise and much faster than the controls.

STORY
Why are you looking here for a story? There is no story!

GAMEPLAY
We have our usual modes: Endless, Puzzle, and VS. modes (so veterens of the series shouldn't feel lost) but now they have added a few additions to bring a bit more gameplay into our humble lives. VS modes lets us have another three modes: Garbage Battle (game constantly dump blocks on you), Score Attack (achieve the highest score in two minutes), and Clear Battle (attempt to clear all the blocks up to a certain line). We also have new ones such as the Daily Play mode and of course like alot of DS games Wi-Fi play! Daily Play is new to the series and its a set of three challenges for players each day, and at the same time it keeps a track on our progress. The Wi-Fi mode shouldn't be anything complicated to veteren DS owners now, it lets us play against other people over the Nintendo WFC. An addition to Wi-Fi mode there is a mode called the Birthday Battle, where you can play against other people who share the same birthday as you.

GRAPHICS
::Clap Clap:: It's pretty well done and its probably one of the best visuals on the DS. Of course you can't expect breathtaking graphics but the blocks are well designed. We also have ten backgrounds (that gives the game a futuristic feel) in the game all with their own sound effects. Problem with the background, some of them move a certain way that is a bit too distracting for me. I end up confusing the puzzles with the background movements sometimes.

SOUND
Sound effects won't annoy you or drive you nuts. The music score is a love or hate type of situation, you like techno? then you will love the score, but otherwise you'll hate it or just tolerate it.

REPLAYABILITY
Very High. The multiplayer and Wi-Fi keeps the game fresh. I am assuming if you are a puzzle fan you will be playing this non stop, otherwise don't bother, puzzle games are meant for replayability value.

OVERALL
It's easy to learn and has a pretty easy learning curve, but its hard to master the gameplay and strategies. The controls are great (specifically the stylus and touchscreen) and Wi-Fi compatibility with voice chat. Problems about the game? For the people who are into their rankings (win-lose scores) there is none. And sometimes in the Wi-Fi you end up facing people who are experts and thus you get yourself creamed...But if you're a puzzle loving fan of Meteos and Tetris DS you will love this game as well.
