heroes of mana is the latest square enix game that looks amazing.
As we know the mana games have took a turn for the worst on the DS and
this is supposidly their saving grace.
the graphics in heroes of mana are very good and make a atmosphere like final fantasy tactics and uses 2d sprites that interact with the environment. The rts style gameplay is very good with a limit of 25 units, thats a good amount of units plus you
can choose from different types such as flying,ground,ranged,power,special and building units all with 5 in each category.
the A.I is very good and can flank you if you arn't carefull they can also build up on troops and can do thier best to out do you. But the ammount of enemies can be stupid and can throw a ton of high level monsters at you! but that can be easily manageable with the units weakneses such as a ground unit is weak against a flying unit and a flying unit is weak against ranged units etc. the game will help you along the way by giving you tips and information ,weakneses ,strategys etc
not only that the game introduces a wifi battle system and my favourite part of heroes of mana
theres only one bad thing about heroes of mana and i dont think people on dgemu
have reailised or any other website have about it...and that is the movement system! it is true that heroes of mana is a rts game but the movement is on a square grid like final fantasy tactics and it is frustrating to move groups of units because they will either go in the opposite direction or take the longest way!
and they dont automaticly attack enemys you need to click on them with the stylus
and even that is broken because the enemy will move but the players will still go where you pointed the stylus at and will ignore the enemy
heroes of mana would have been perfect if those flaws werent there
the reason they made that system is because square thought that it would be too close to final fantasy 12 revenent wings which is also an rts but without the grid movement.
overall its an ok game try it out because alot of people didnt notice the flaws and found it enjoyable
