It's hard to describe just how terrible this game is, but I will try.

First of all, you'll immediately notice how horrible the graphics are when you load up the game. Everything from the intro movie to the in-game graphics are horrendous. I understand the DS' graphics are low-key, but just look at the things done in metroid prime hunters or mario kart. Clearly, the effort was not there.

Secondly, the gameplay is pretty bad. Hockey games have come a long way since I first played it on the NES, but this game doesn't show it at all. You have no depth whatsoever, all you can really do is skate, pass, and shoot in straight linear motions, with the occasional speed burst and/or powerup. The powerups could have added a twist, but really, it barely does anything to make the game fun.

Thirdly, there aren't even full rosters for each NHL hockey team. What you get is a scattered bunch of "stars" from each team that you randomly recruit to your team. So while you can finally build your team of Crosby, Ovechkin, and Jagr, you can't even play as your favourite team.

All in all, a disappointing game...because I was really looking forward to play hockey on my ds.
