WWE SmackDown VS Raw 2008: Reviews

Game Score: 8/10

Unlike hundreds of other people, I loved this game and am without a doubt buying it. Even though this is the Euro ROM Version of the game, it still delivered big time. As the 9th Installment of WWE's Smackdown Video Game Series and the 4th installment of the Smackdown! VS. Raw Series, this game lives up to it's name by having mostly everything in it that the PS2 console versions have. Few slight issues, since its a DS card and not a disc, they could only put so much into it. Amaze and THQ have created a Turn Based new wrestling game experience for die hard WWE fans. The things from console versions they put in are the Ring Announcer Voice Overs (Ex: Tony Chimmel), the ORIGINAL WWE TV ENTRANCE MUSIC for each superstar instead of the digitized Gameboy crap we come to expect from wrestling handhelds these days, and a FUN 50 week long SEASON mode where you can even meet WWE superstars backstage and befriend them on your quest to gain the top titles in the WWE. The things they weren't able to put in from the console versions are the special match types like: Extreme Rules, Elimination Tag and Chamber, Royal Rumble, TLC, Table, Ladder, Buried Alive, Bar and Backstage Brawls, Money in the Bank Ladder, and others, and you can do 1 on 1 matches like: Single, Ironman, Hardcore, and others. Although you may choose an ally to help you in matches, it cant be a tag team match. Another thing they disappointlingly took was the well anticipated WWE 24/7 Mode which will be introduced in the upcoming console versions of this game. The 50 week season should suffice for DS users though. You cant really expect all that much with a little DS card, but they still did good. Although it only has 21 wrestlers in it altogether, it's still great. Its got many favorites like: John Cena, Bobby Lashely, Undertaker (As seen on the cover), Gene Snitski, Triple H, Rey Mysterio, King Booker, and many others, plus a DS exclusive: ECW's Hardcore Holly. The touch screen controls are a new addition instead of the same old same old, you must do moves by touching the screen as the commands pop up. Now for the main part of my review.

SOUND:
The sound (to me) was the BEST part, it has Ring Announcer voice overs who not only announce the wrestlers, but also what kind of match they're in. ALSO, it has the Entrance Music you hear on TV. Overall, the sound was perfect.

GAMEPLAY:
I loved the gameplay as well, the touch screen controls can get pretty annoying over time, but remember, its all you can do since you cant move your superstar with the D-Pad. Gameplay was great, but the controls aren't that simple to get used to.

OVERALL:
I give this game a 8 because except for the fact that it only has 21 wrestlers, no WWE 24/7, no tag matches and others, it still blew me away. A MUST DOWNLOAD, AND A MUST BUY
