Bangai-O Spirits: Reviews

Bangai-O Spirits: Not even remotely close to what you expect it to be.

Most NDS gamers would probably, upon first glance, judge the game based on the title. "Hmm, a mech game, probably featuring an idealistic protagonist fighting as a One Man Army against any and all enemy factions." Think again.

This is Super Mario with giant cannons and beam-sabers!

Bangai-O Spirits is a platformer / 2D side-scroller / shooter. With all these elements, the ability to choose which level you would like to play and absolutely no rankings, difficulty options or plot- this is as brutal as it gets. You wanna blow things up? Fancy slicing flying robots En Masse? Play it!

I like dubstep music, so the soundtrack with its 8bit techno isnt horrible to me.
The lack of plot, storyline (except for the tutorial) sucks IMO.
One can saythat the game is repetitive in the sense that every level requires you to KILL EVERYTHING! But that may be both a plus and a minus point.
It has WIFI multiplayer options if you are into that.
You have an option of building your own levels! Giant Mech Simms! Yay!

The first two hours of play had me so disappointed that I contemplated returning it and claiming it was a Faulty game in hopes of getting my money back. After rediscovering it three months later (and several hours into the game while my Class-notes for the upcoming exam stared at me in disbelief) I rocked that little DS cartridge's world! Still cant finish all the levels, but i do enjoy destruction and mayhem!

If you like RPG/ SRPG/ TRPG games- not for you.
If you dig bright, shiny, flashy things, and making your own levels witha constructon-set- this is your new hobby.
