Puzzle Quest 2: Reviews

There are a few jewel based games out at the moment and so the question becomes, why should I choose this one? I shall enlighten you!

If you like roleplaying games where the purpose is to collect the best possible weapons and armour so that you can destroy your enemies then you will love this game!

If you like strategy games where you need to choose the best spells to use in any given situation then you also will love this game!

If you enjoy bejewelled and similar jewel matching games because for some reason little coloured circles make up the landscape of your vision and when two coloured people walk past each other you try and shove a third one at them to make them disappear (well that may make you racist actually) however if you are a lover of the jewel matching then you will love this game!

However if like me you enjoy Roleplaying strategic puzzle games then this game will be everything you have ever wanted all rolled in to one!

The battle system is simple and well thought out with considerable advances over the original game, you are still tasked with collecting glowing orbs full of red, yellow, blue, green and purple mana or spell power in order to cast the spells that will destroy your opponents, however there are also skull tokens which when matched do direct damage and the newest feature the fist token, which allows the use of weapons and various offhand items.

Whilst the combat system is simply matching colours and casting spells no big surprises there, the one area I found most disappointing was actually the weapon and armour upgrade system.

Whilst you can do multiple quick battles in order to gather the materials you need, I found that not only did these quick battles give far too much experience thus allowing me to reach the maximum level of 50 within a few days but also the inability to trade one material for another meant that I had 400 wood that I couldn't use yet every time I need to upgrade anything it requires metal...

which brings me to the last point, if you enjoy mindless jewel destroying death but don't mind the idea of farming for hours on end, perhaps you recently quit world of warcraft and need some sort of addictive gaming patch...

Well the get this game! It rocks!
