Super Mario World - Cold Mario Edition: Reviews

Yet another Super Mario Hack, 'what sets this one apart from the others?' you may be asking, well, not much in truth, except for a few novel facts. First off, this game does what little other mario hacks have done before, and edited most of the main levels (instead of stopping at the 1st or 2nd world, as most hacks of this popular game does.) Second, and probably the thing that affects the game the most, all of the floors in the game are covered in ice, thus making control and precision extremely important in handling mario, if you overshoot a jump or undershoot it may cause the death of mario. Also, the game makes a proper attempt at adding this gimmick to most of the levels, as well as editing all the levels to compensate for this change, as well as arranging the level in a way that would make it difficult for one to maneuver without some help (from a cape or yoshi (perferably a blue one, none-the-less)). Since a majority of the levels that were seen as important were either: converted (had the ice effect added), partially changed (had the ice effect added, and changed the layout of the level slightly, while keeping several parts of levels), and at times, changed the levels completely, and no resemblenece is seen in the original and this hacked level, other then the goal post being at the end. The main number of levels that have not beem changed comprise of water levels, several of the star road/special stages, and the forest of illusion. No sounds/music have been added, as most of it is original mario music/sounds. The graphics were not modified in any way, other then some textures having their color changed. There is a fatal problem in this game though, in which the 3rd level in choco land is inaccesible past the first screen, easily costing it most of it's grade.
